HP boosts BTO offering through Bristol buy
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Thursday, 15 February 2007
Tech giant HP has agreed to acquire business technology optimisation (BTO) software firm Bristol Technology.
The company will provide HP with technologies that monitor business transactions such as insurance claim processes and inventory management, and HP said the addition of Bristol would complement last year’s acquisition of Mercury Interactive.
However, analyst firm Gartner warned that HP still had to contend with the integration of last year’s acquisitions.
“Bristol’s Transaction Vision technology only adds further complexity to an already large and sometimes redundant portfolio,” the firm wrote in an online advisory.
HP said the acquisition was expected to close within 30 days, after which Bristol would be fully integrated into HP Software. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
