Young men to get Lost thanks to MBC Action

MBC Action, the latest channel addition to MBC Group and targeted at young Arab men, is set to launch in the GCC and North Africa on March 5.
The English-language channel - with Arabic subtitles - will feature action reality shows, movies and American series such as Lost and Prison Break.
"Specialisation within media is paramount," says Mazen Hayek, MBC's Group Director of Marketing, PR and Commercial. "Building on the success of our other specialised and targeted channels, we wanted to create an offering that caters to the aspirations of the Arab male audience.
"Young Arab males want full-on action oriented programming that's intense and extreme coupled with scheduling that fits their active lifestyles," he added.
Established in the Arab world, MBC launched in 1991 as the first pan-Arab free-to-air satellite station. Over the past 15 years, the group launched five more TV and two radio channels, O3 Productions and Middle East News.
According to a report, the number of Arab free-to-air satellite channels more than doubled between 2004 and 2006, with the total number of FTA Satellite channels broadcasting on Arabsat and Nilesat reaching 263 - a growth of 163% since January 2004.
