by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Thursday, 01 March 2007
Former Toshiba regional boss Ahmed Khalil is joining Al-Futtaim — the vendor’s UAE distribution partner.
A spokesperson for Al-Futtaim confirmed to IT Weekly sister publication Channel Middle East last week that Khalil is set to be unveiled as the general manager of Al-Futtaim Technologies’ international operation, part of the group’s Electronics and Engineering Business Division.
In addition to notebooks, projectors and office products from Toshiba, Al-Futtaim Technologies — better known in the market as Aftech — delivers Alcatel-branded communications solutions and is a certified Microsoft Dynamics partner.
Aftech also provides extensive infrastructure services to other companies within the Al-Futtaim Group.
The scope of Khalil’s role has not yet been disclosed, although it is understood to include a responsibility for developing the company’s business in Africa.
Khalil left Toshiba towards the end of 2006 following a seven-year stretch working for the notebook vendor.
