MEP: How long have you worked for Grundfos?
Three years at our Dubai operation and 11 years in Greece; 14 successful years in total.
MEP: Where did you work before?
I worked for around 20 years with a pump manufacturing company that dealt with sales responsibilities in the Middle East and Far East region.
MEP: How and why did you get into the business?
Since my university days I was fascinated by fluid mechanics.
It was but natural that I would join one of these fields.
MEP: Describe your typical working day
I am an early starter.
Once in the office, I do the customary check of the Grundfos web following a brisk review of the local and international headlines.
Morning coffee is accompanied by an update from my assistant about the day ahead.
The usual course of the remaining day is usually meeting up with staff from sales and marketing, logistics and other elements of our business.
MEP: What’s the best part of your job and/or the industry?
The market we work in very dynamic and really challenging.
The projects that the markets are churning out are what keep us on our toes and I like this about the industry.
At a personal level I enjoy the cultural dynamism of the market.
I personally enjoy interacting with different people and doing business with them.
MEP: What’s your biggest achievement so far?
If I were to mention business achievements, I could say that the two Grundfos companies (Greece and Middle East) I have headed have been top performers in the Grundfos Group, with double digit growth year after year.
I have never seen red digits on my scorecard.
MEP: How do you hope to progress at Grundfos?
I believe I have achieved a lot in life and especially with Grundfos, both personally and career wise.
I wish to retire after such a long career, ideally planning to relax back home in the white, sandy beaches of my native Greece.
It’s where my roots are and where I want to go back to at the end of the day.
