Libyan Airlines boosts accounting technology

Libya's flag carrier, Libyan Arab Airlines, has signed up for the RAPID revenue accounting system offered by Mercator, the airline IT solutions provider of the Emirates Group.
The software will be used by Libyan Arab Airlines to meet its passenger revenue accounting requirements, analysing the data of over one million used air ticket coupons to provide business critical information.
"Mercator has proved itself many times before in the airline industry and counts many of our fellow Arab airlines as customers," said Ali Saleh, Libyan Arab Airlines' financial director. "We have seen for ourselves the results that these RAPID implementations bring, and our airline will also soon be realising the benefits. The Mercator team has our complete confidence, and we look forward to building a strategic relationship between our two companies."
The software is designed to reduce revenue accounting costs, maximise productivity and enhance commercial confidence and competitiveness. Libyan Arab Airlines and Mercator teams will start the implementation in Tripoli shortly, according to Patrick Naef, senior vice president for IT Emirates Group and Head of Mercator.
"Mercator has experienced meteoric growth since its inception, matching that of both the Emirates Group and Dubai," he said. "We now have reached the landmark of 50 major airlines and aviation industry customers. However we will not rest on our laurels - we will continue to develop industry-leading products and provide the best service around. Libyan Arab Airlines and all our other customers can be assured of this."
Airlines already using the RAPID family of products include British Airways, Emirates, Jet Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Royal Brunei, and Syrian Arab Airlines.
