Emirates Airline has added a new daily flight to Japan as the Dubai-based carrier targets an increase in business travel.
The new non-stop service from Dubai to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport will launch on 3 June, in the hope that Japanese exporters will join tourists in making use of the additional flexibility.
Thierry Antinori, Emirates executive vice president, passenger sales worldwide, said: “As Emirates’ third gateway in Japan, the Dubai to Haneda route will help to build on the vibrant relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Japan, in terms of trade and increasing the opportunities for business and tourism.”
Emirates SkyCargo will also provide an additional 210 tonnes of cargo capacity per week, helping to support Japanese exports – including mechanical components, electronic good and automobile parts – as well as imports of gas and oil products.
Antinori added: “Emirates has been operating to Japan since 2002 when we introduced non-stop flights to Osaka; our commitment continued when we launched flights to Narita International Airport in 2010.
“We are confident that the demand in terms of both passengers and cargo is strong enough to warrant Emirates operating non-stop daily flights to both of Tokyo’s airports, offering our passengers more flexibility.”
Located in the Ota ward of Japan’s capital, Haneda Airport handles the majority of domestic flights to and from Tokyo. It opened its doors to international carriers following the opening of a fourth runway and international terminal in 2010. It is currently ranked as the second busiest airport in Asia.
The new service will be served by a three-class Boeing 777-200LR, departing Dubai at 09:35 UAE time, arriving at Haneda Airport at 12:01 the following day. The return flight will depart at 01:30 and arrive in Dubai at 07:05.
Emirates’ partnership with Japan Airlines will also be expanded to include a code share on the new Dubai-Haneda-Dubai services. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
