Al Jazeera reporter shot dead in Lebanon

A web producer at Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera was shot dead in Lebanon, where she was on holiday, it was confirmed to Arabian Business Qatar.

Claudia Theophilus was killed in Baakleem, in the mountains of Lebanon, around 14:30 local time. According to sources close to Qatari media, the 42-year old Malaysian was shot while using a rifle in what has been defined as an accident.

Two people with her at the time are now being questioned by Lebanese police.

An Al Jazeera employee later confirmed Theophilus's death to Arabian Business Qatar via text message.

Messages of condolence were posted on social networks by Al Jazeera English employees and other people.
