Alwaleed donates US $500,000 to CAIR

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin AbdulAziz Alsaud, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, donated US $500,000 to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) after meeting with the organisation’s general manager, Nihad Awad who is on a Middle East tour to gather support for CAIR programs and projects. Mr. Awad spoke about the campaign being organized by CAIR in the US to supply public libraries with 16,300 book packages addressing Islam in a proper way to convey the true image of Islam and Muslims to the widest range of Americans. Prince Alwaleed’s donation to CAIR will finance the purchase of 3,000 sets of books and tapes about Islam to educate people about the religion and to support CAIR’s media campaign in several leading American newspapers.Mr. Awad explained to Prince Alwaleed that CAIR hopes to reach out to the educated and open minded in the American society through libraries, stressing the role these public libraries play in the lives of Americans.
