The latest film in the ever-expanding Star Wars galaxy now has a UAE release date.
The film, which will chart the adventures of Han Solo before we first saw him in 1977’s original, A New Hope, will be screened from May 24, which is expected to be the second week of Ramdan.
Anticipation for the spin-off film, which is being released less than six months after The Last Jedi, is now building following last night’s unveiling of first official trailer, which was part of the now traditional Superbowl half-time ad showcase.
Solo has been beset by problems since the shooting began in January 2017 in London’s Pinewood studios.
Original directing team Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were jettisoned over their approach midway through the process, while their replacement Ron Howard decided to reshoot almost every scene. Leading man, Alden Ehrenreich, was also reportedly sent for acting lessons.
Revenue predictions for the film, however, are surprisingly muted, with hopes pegged around the $750 million mark, according to insiders. That compares to the $1bn achieved in global sales by Rogue One and The Force Awakens.
