A new entrant on our Power 50, HE Nasser Butti Omeir goes straight in at number nine for his work championing the GCC travel agent community, as well as raising standards in the industry.
At just 30 years of age, the UAE national is already one of the most influential players in the Gulf’s travel sector. He is chairman of the Abu Dhabi Travel and Tourism Agencies Council (ATTAC), founded in 2000 to guide travel agents, raise industry standards, provide training, and keep a check on any unethical practices. The body now has 250 travel agent members.
Bin Youssuf has established vital links between travel agents and government bodies such as Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; ADTA and Abu Dhabi Airports Company. He has also been made chairman of the Gulf Travel & Tourism Associations Committee, an umbrella committee comprising five Gulf travel agent associons, established to unite and empower travel agents across the Gulf; as well as chairman of the Gulf Travel Training Center (GTTC), an IATA accredited centre, established in 2007.
