Ayyam Gallery has announced the opening of two new branches
in the UAE and Egypt
this month.

The gallery will open a new branch in Cairo
on October 19, with a solo show of recent work by leading Syrian painter Safwan
Dahoul, and another venue in Dubai’s DIFC Gate
Village on October 25.

The DIFC gallery will be used as a focus for Ayyam Gallery’s
programme of solo shows and offers 1,500 sq ft of space. It will open with an exhibition featuring work by the Syrian painter Khaled Takret.

“This move not only marks a significant step for the gallery
but also points to the shifting direction of the Middle Eastern art scene,
which is now working towards sustaining the exciting momentum that has
catapulted the region as one of the world’s most sought after art hubs,” the
gallery said in a newsletter.

Meanwhile, the gallery is refurbishing its 80,000 sq ft Art
Centre in Dubai’s
Al Quoz area in a bid to make it one of the Gulf region’s “premier art venues”.

Ayyam plans to turn the centre into a home for large-scale exhibitions
and installations, a permanent collection as well as film screenings and
auctions.
