Bahrain Marina hires new CEO, eyes 2020 completion date

Mixed-use project will include five-star hotel, apartments, waterfront villas, shopping mall, entertainment centre and waterfront dining and retail

Bahrain Marina, a subsidiary of the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), has announced the appointment of Yazan Haddad as the CEO of Bahrain Marina Development Company.

Haddad will lead the development of the mixed-use project which is scheduled for completion by 2020.

The project will include a five-star hotel, serviced and freehold apartments, waterfront villas along with a shopping mall, family entertainment centre and a recreational waterfront space with dining and retail spaces.

A yacht club will also be built with the capacity of berthing a vast number of boats of different sizes, according to a statement.

Commenting on the new appointment, Abdulrahman Yusuf Fakhro, chairman of Bahrain Marina, said: "Having announced the launch of the ambitious Bahrain Marina Project, an exciting platform for growth, there is no better person to lead the project through the next phase of development than Yazan Haddad.

"He is a proven leader, effective role model and a prominent figure in the kingdom in regards to the real estate industry. As we enter the next phase of growth from a position of operational and overall development, his skills will undoubtedly ensure that Bahrain Marina delivers value for all of our stakeholders," Fakhro added.

Haddad said: "It's a great time to join Bahrain Marina as the project enters its second phase of development.

"The focus now is on ensuring that the project meets the overall objective and mandate set by the board. Bahrain Marina is clearly moving towards becoming one of the leading projects in the kingdom."
