Bahrain’s Investcorp in US tech firm stake deal

Investcorp, a Bahrain-based alternative asset manager, has acquired a stake in US-based IT security firm FishNet Security, it was announced on Wednesday.

Kansas-based FishNet helps companies to identify risks and develop solutions and technologies to safeguard their day-to-day security of their information and IT systems.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but Investcorp’s stake was acquired from Chicago-based Lake Capital.

“Businesses are placing increased emphasis on the importance of identifying and mitigating information security risks and FishNet is ideally positioned to capitalise on these growth opportunities and to help drive advancements in the information security sector further,” said Mohammed Al-Shroogi, President for Gulf business at Investcorp.

Investcorp has three business areas: corporate investment in the US, Europe and the Gulf, real estate investment in the US and global hedge funds. As at June 30, 2012, Investcorp had US$11.5bn in assets under management.
