Dubai Airports, Dubai World Central and Dubai Air Traffic Navigation have been brought together with the establishment of Dubai City of Aviation.

The new body was established by a decree issued yesterday by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The move comes as part of the Dubai Strategy Plan 2015, which aims to restructure Dubai’s aviation sector to match its rapid growth and establish it as a major international player.

At the same time, Jebel Ali International Airport was renamed the Al Maktoum International Airport. Dubai Airports has been awarded the mandate to manage it as well as Dubai International Airport. Dubai City of Aviation will also oversee the airport free zone and surrounding non free zones.

The new body will streamline management and promote the implementation of world-class operating standards throughout its units. Newly formed entities under its remit will conform to international conventions in civil aviation and meteorology services as well as determining and monitoring international air routes within Dubai’s air space. the global aviation industry.
