Columbian Port of Buenaventura

Extreme congestion at the Columbian Port of Buenaventura has led to major delays.

Several landslides in the areas surrounding the port have blocked the highway linking Buenaventura with Columbia’s inland cities.

Vessels have continued to call, which has resulted in a pile-up of containers at the terminal. For two weeks no containers were taken overland from the port.

The Port Authority has taken measures to improve the situation, and it is expected to be back to normal operations in about two months time.
