PRAGUE, DUBAI – Lasvit, the Czech manufacturer of bespoke glass installations and award-winning collections will be unveiling their latest bespoke creations at d3 during next Meet d3 event taking place on December 8-10 at d3. The company also offer its hugely popular ´Lasvit Glass Experience show’ at the event aptly themed Celebrating Creativity.
Commenting on the event, Leon Jakimic, founder and president of Lasvit said, “Partnering with d3 we are very proud to unveil our two bespoke creations here today at Meet d3 while offering the Lasvit Glass Experience, giving the community across the UAE the opportunity to learn about the rich heritage of Bohemian hand-blown glass. Working with d3, we are proud to be part of growing the art & design landscape of Dubai year on year and bringing the design experience closer to the community.”
Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, COO of Dubai Design District, commented: “Lasvit have been an important part in the development of d3 and we’re proud to have partnered with them to produce such wonderful installations which take centre stage in The Design Quarter. We’re again thrilled that they will be bringing their Glass Experience to Meet d3 for everyone to enjoy”
The guest experience will not be limited to mere spectatorship, but guests will be invited to participate in glass blowing to witness the magical process of transforming raw glass into original glass objects. Combining different approaches and glass-blowing techniques including free hand glass blowing and mold glass blowing, visitors will be transported to the Bohemian age of craftsmanship.
As a part of the Meet d3 event, Lasvit also showcases their latest dynamically-lit glass sculpture titled Intergalactic, premiered at the Downtown Design Dubai fair in October.
Newest Lasvit Bespoke Creations Unveiled at d3
Enhancing the visitor experience to the d3 district, Lasvit also unveiled two innovative bespoke lighting sculptures which have been designed exclusively for the d3. Centered on motion and designed by Libor Sostak, the lighting sculptures have taken centre stage in the atriums of Core 4 and 6 buildings in d3.
The kinetic sculpture aptly named Pulse will adorn the atrium of d3´s Core 4 building. In line with Lasvit and d3’s shared vision of integrating architecture, light, technology and space to produce spectacular experiences, this sculpture has been manufactured to the highest standards - complementing the modern architecture of d3. Suspended in the skylight of Core 4, Pulse brings the entire space to life.
Inspired by the pulse of human heart when in motion, at first the individual elements disperse throughout the atrium, imitating the glass-making sands when scattered on the ground. And as the sand would melt into one cohesive whole, the elements of the sculpture then join into one compact animated shape. Rising and falling as waves, slowing down or speeding up at will, the abstract composition is brought to life.
Necklace, the dynamic lighting installation fills the atrium of d3’s Core 6 building with its sheer size of 18 meters in length and 15 meters in width. Necklace is one of the largest lighting sculptures ever made worldwide, with unique features. The sculpture is fully controllable remotely through an iPhone application. The individual glass elements with their reflective qualities and surface textures allow the permeation of light, enabling Necklace to showcase its chameleon-like qualities when shifting the colour scheme from cold to warm hues. The possibility of using this glass surface as a projection screen for video reflects the utter flexibility of the sculpture’s concept.
Since its establishment in 2007, Lasvit has been credited for its progressive approach, taking traditional Bohemian glass-blowing techniques into the 21s century through integrating technology with traditional manufacturing methods and introducing lighting kinetic sculptures, as well as programmable dynamic lighting systems. Lasvit’s coveted works are found in the world’s most exclusive hotels, from Paris to New York and from Hong Kong to Seoul. Lasvit is firmly established in the UAE and its creations grace the interiors of exclusive hotels and public spaces such as the Dubai Opera, Palazzo Versace, Rosewood and St Regis hotels as well as several discerning private residences.
