Abu Dhabi Customs have foiled an attempt to smuggle 2kg of crystal meth at Al Ghuwaifat Border, following a tip from the Drug Enforcement Section in Al Dhafra.

According to state news agency WAM, a vehicle driven by an Asian man raised suspicions and a search by inspectors revealed the Class A narcotics.

Inspectors issued a seizure report, confiscated the drugs, and referred the truck driver to authorities to face legal action, WAM reported.

Mohamed Khadem Al Hameli, acting director-general of the General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi, said that the seizure proves the experience and the efficiency of customs inspectors.

He said: "The General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi continues to invest in developing the capabilities of its human resources to support their role in protecting our homeland."
