Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced through his Twitter and Instagram accounts the launch of Dubai360.com, a project which will showcase full 360 degree virtual tours of the emirate.
"Soon, we will launch Dubai360.com, the world’s leading immersive virtual city tour. It is a groundbreaking website that will enable you to explore Dubai from anywhere in the world," Sheikh Hamdan, who is also chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
According to state-backed news agency WAM, the Dubai360
project will be the world's largest
and highest quality virtual city tour that exclusively uses fully interactive
and immersive 360 degree panoramic photo, time lapse and video content.
The website currently features a 12 minute timelapse video of Dubai International Airport.
"Here you can experience what it's like to be
stood on the top of the control tower at. The timelapse below was shoot over a
30 hour period depicting over 1,000 planes landing, taking off, and taxiing at
the airport," the website said.
Viewers can control the direction and zoom of the
camera as the time-lapse plays.
The website will soon include timelapse tours of the views form some of the city's must exclusive hotels, including JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, the world’s tallest hotel.
It will also feature the view from the rooftop of the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai Marina, the foyer and a suite at the Burj Al Arab, and from inside Thiptara, a Thai restaurant at The Palace Hotel, Downtown Dubai.
