Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has introduced a new fleet of luxury taxis in a move that the firm says will deliver higher standards of transport to customers.
The fleet, which launched in June 2012, includes 20 Nissan Infiniti and Toyota Lexus vehicles.
“The service can be ordered directly from the designated service counter in the arrivals exit point of Dubai International Airport, or by calling the Booking & Dispatch Centre's number,” said Mohammed Saleh, Director of DTC Fleet Operations. The taxis will also be available from some public facilities, he added.
The flag-down rate for the vehicles, which come with a sleek black paint-job, remains fixed at AED50 (US$13.60).
Saleh added that each taxi would come with its own "elegant driver" as well as additional privacy compared to the emirate's standard taxis.
“Some other relevant high-level services will be provided at a later stage," he said.
DTC said that all of the luxury taxi drivers had offence and complaint-free driving records. “They underwent a series of initial tests in English language, general appearance and psychological aptitude," Saleh added.
