Dubai's Global Village has announced the appointment of Mellors Group Events from the UK to deliver funfair services for the 2013-2014 season following a competitive tender process.
Mellors Group Events worked with the Mayor of London on rides to support the 2012 London Olympics, the Royal Wedding celebrations in Hyde Park for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the famous South Bank Centre on the River Thames in London.
Global Village will be the first time for Mellors Group Events to operate in the Middle East and the company said it is looking forward to the new challenge and welcoming millions of visitors for the coming season.
Company director James Mellors said: "We are very proud to have won such a prestigious assignment to deliver funfair services to Global Village, the biggest annual outdoor attraction in the Middle East.
"We will be announcing details of the new and innovative approach we are taking to the funfair attractions shortly but are confident that visitors will be able to enjoy a totally new experience for the forthcoming 2013-2014 season.
"Global Village is a fantastic concept with a 17 year legacy of success and we are looking forward to helping enhance that legacy and ensure we create a truly memorable visitor experience for the region through our funfair."
The funfair element of Global Village takes up the single largest area on the purpose built site located on the Emirates Road in Dubai and is always a strong favourite for families and their children.
Earlier this year, all funfair rides at Dubai's Global Village were suspended following an accident in which a visitor died.
The tragedy happened in January when a person was killed by a metal bar which fell from the Freij World Wheel.
