Dubai says 14.9m tourists visit during 2016, up 5%

Dubai Tourism chief hails performance during 'turbulent year'; says on track to lure 20m annually by 2020

Indeed it does and many people transit overnight in DXB - hence my question.

Telcoguy

@lastman two weeks ago i had a transit in Dubai, it was 8 hours so i went to the Meridien. I obviously had to go through immigration.
I guess more people do something like that.

Telcoguy

You can cross check with the occupancy rates to roughly check if there is a change in the average number of nights per stay.

lastman

I may well be wrong here, but my understanding is that overnight stays do not include transit flights, only those that pass through immigration. Happy to be corrected.

JRH

I wonder how many people in transit in DXB were counted in these numbers.

lastman

They are overnight visitors - as it says in the news story.
