Egypt train crash death toll hits 20

The death toll following a train crash near Cairo, Saturday, has now risen to 20, an Egyptian official has confirmed.A train traveling from Cairo to Asyut crashed into the rear of a stationary train from Giza to Al-Fayyum. Initial reports indicated 15 people had died with 50 injured.

Rescue staff were working after nightfall to pull victims from the wreckage. Some people were said to be trapped under an overturned carriage.

The official, quoted by AFP news agency, said the accident happened when one of the trains unexpectedly stopped and the second train hit it from behind.
