The largest electricity and water desalination expansion project in the UAE is on track to be completed in the third quarter of 2018, according to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of DEWA, has reviewed the progress of the M-Station expansion project, which is now 82 percent completed.
M-Station, which has a current capacity of 2,185MW of electricity and 140 million imperial gallons of desalinated water per day (MIGD), will increase to 2,885MW when the expansion project is launched.
The project will also increase the plant’s thermal efficiency from 82.4 percent to 85.8 percent, which is one of the highest in the world, a statement said.
Since 2015, DEWA has been working with Siemens on the Jebel Ali M-Station expansion, with a construction cost of AED11.5 billion.
The project has been implemented in phases since mid-2010, the statement added.
DEWA currently manages a total production capacity of 10,200MW of electricity and 470 MIGD.For all the latest energy and oil news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
