Etisalat and the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) eGovernment authority have teamed up to provide a range of local and federal services online to residents of the Emirate.

As part of the RAK eGovernment project, Etisalat has linked the Emirate’s eGovernment authority with nine local government offices through a high-speed data cable network.

This means that residents, businesses and local government offices will be able to access services online from the nine departments, which include the RAK Traffic Police Department.

The next stage of the project, revealed Humaid Sultan Al Suwaidi, general manager of the Etisalat RAK project, will be to introduce e-payment services via the government portal.

“We are in talks now to provide e-payment services via the RAK government portal using credit card solutions and the EasyPay services via the BizDirect secure connection from Etisalat,” said Al Suwaidi.

“The new payment options will enable charging solutions and secure money transfer between the different departments,” he continued.

“We are also in talks to link the services of e4me to the eGovernment portal to provide customers with easy electronic payment options.”

To enable secure online transactions the two companies are also in talks over the possibility of linking Etisalat’s B2B portal with the eGovernment portal to provide a safe environment in which accounting, displaying and paying bills and customer subscriptions for value added services and ticketing can be processed online.

“The eGovernment project developed in collaboration with Etisalat aims to provide a proper electronic infrastructure for services that facilitate the web to serve individuals as well as regional and international companies in order to encourage investments in the Emirate,” said Hashim Al Rifaee, government information technology consultant, general manager, RAK eGovernment.
