Before coming to Abu Dhabi, Martin was Editor of the London Daily Telegraph and before that, a launch editor of the National Post in Canada. The Abu Dhabi posting means that so far Martin has edited three national newspapers on three continents under six different proprietors.

In 1998, Martin left the UK to launch the National Post, a national newspaper with 250 staff. He returned to the UK in 2003 as Editor of the Daily Telegraph. He has wide experience of newspaper launches, hiring journalistic talent and administering multi-million dollar budgets.

Martin launched The National in April. It has in the region of 200 drawn from titles as far afield as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and The Daily and Sunday Telegraphs among others.

Martin has a BA in History and a Masters in Theology from the University of London.
