COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Also known as Nakilat, the Qatar Gas Transport Co focuses on gas shipping services including liquefied natural and petroleum gas, as well as operating, managing and leasing vessels together with ship repair and maintenance. It currently has a fleet of 27 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels.Last month, Qatar Gas Transport said it was hoping to raise $1bn in project finance loans over the next year.
The firm “is approaching banks about raising debt for its third phase of financing to meet repayment commitments due between June and early 2010 for the acquisition of 25 gas shipment vessels under construction in South Korea,” Nakilat managing director Muhammad Ghannam was quoted as saying.
