COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Alinma Bank is a shariah-compliant commercial Islamic bank. It's founding shareholders are the Saudi Arabian General Investment Fund (GIF), the Saudi Arabian General Retirement Fund (GRF) and the Saudi Arabian General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI). Together they represent 30% of the bank's capital, or USD 1.1 billion, with equal shares.The remaining 70% of the bank's capital was offered for public subscription in April 2008. Its USD 2.8 billion IPO, the largest in the Kingdom's history, raised about USD 1 billion by the second subscription day.
Alinma Bank is yet to start business in the second half of this year and will provide financial services that are compliant with Islamic law and will also arrange project financing. The bank will operate 15 branches across Saudi Arabia.
