COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Amman-based Jordan Phosphate Mines is involved in the exploration, production and export of phosphates and fertilisers. The company also exports mining equipment and trucks and raw materials such as sulphur, ammonium hydroxide and anhydrous ammonia.JPMC was incorporated into a public shareholding company in 1953 and operates in three mining locations across the central and southern parts of Jordan.
PMC produces up to seven million tonnes a year of rock, making it the world's sixth largest phosphate rock producer and the second largest exporter. JPMC is currently the sole company in Jordan licensed to mine and undertakes exploration of phosphate rock.
