Laguna Waterpark

Burrowed in the heart of Dubai’s retro beachfront destination, Laguna overlooks the sea on one side and Dubai’s skyline on the other. Its best bits are the lazy pool filled with splashing surprises as well as the surf experience, WaveOz180 FloRider – it's only available in two other locations across the globe. When the time comes to unwind, there are a number of cabanas overlooking the sea, while the Surf Club offers roof-top dinning with a beautiful view of city's skyline.

Our picks: WaveOz180, Free fall, Manta and Mad Racer

Where: La Mer, Dubai

When: 10am-8pm daily

Wild Wadi Water Park

Wild Wadi is known by most for its action packed rides, great views – it's located opposite the Burj Al Arab and next to Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and its excellent service. When it comes to rides, the Jumeirah Sceirah is our favourite. The ride’s trapdoor mechanism counts down to one before you free fall down the tube. You can document your experience using a GoPro, that is welcome on any and all rides.

Our picks: Jumeirah Sceirah, Tantrum Alley, Burj Surj and Master Blasters

Where: Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai

When: 10am-7pm, 1 May to 14 May; Ramadan: 10am-7pm, 15 May to 14 June; Ladies Night 8pm-12am, 3 May

Price: From AED169 for UAE Residents

Aquaventure Waterpark

There’s no shortage of things to do at this waterpark. Thrilling rides? Check. Dolphins? Check. Sharks? Check. A mega zip line to see it all? Check. In fact you should probably already be well on your way by now. Once you're there be sure to check out the Leap of Faith, it's a 9-storey high water slide, that sees you go plummeting down a vertical half pipe before entering a clear acrylic tube that's filled with sharks and sting rays. If waterparks aren’t really your thing, you for real? Aquaventure also boasts a private beach and private encounters with Cownose Sting Rays.

Our picks: Atlantean Flyer Zip Line, Leap of Faith, Poseidon’s Revenge and Shark Attack

Where: Atlantis, The Palm

When: 10am-sunset daily

Price: AED195 for UAE Residents

Yas Waterworld

One for those heading to the capital. Yas Waterworld is the UAE’s first mega waterpark and it is completely Emirati themed. With more than 40 rides, slides and attractions, the Liwa Loop is the ride that you have look out for. It's a high-intensity looped waterslide that is likely to leave you feeling just a bit loopy by the end of it. If you’re out with friends and family, we recommend the Falcon Falaj. The 6-seater tube will have you screaming in the dark as you try to figure out what comes next. If you’re still hungry for more, head over to Ferrari World, which is right next door.

Our picks: Liwa Loop, Jebel Drop, Falcon Falaj and Sebags

Where: Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

When: 10am-7pm May, 10am-8pm June to August

Price: AED250
