HIGH HOPES: The Armani Hotel Dubai, developed in collaboration with Emaar Properties, will be located in the base of the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.

Iconic fashion designer Giorgio Armani has said he is nervous his first hotel project, which will be located in the base of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, may look outdated when officially opened later this month.

“I’ve been working on this for five years. I’m finally going to see what I designed, and it’s a bit nerve-racking to think that what I liked five years ago might look old now,” the Italian designer told US-based fashion trade publication Woman’s Wear Daily at the weekend.

The Armani Hotel Dubai, which will be the designer’s first hospitality project and was developed in collaboration with Emaar Properties, will be located in the base of the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.

The hotel is due to be officially launched on March 18. Last month it was revealed that room rates will start at AED1,700 ($463) for a night in one of 24 Armani studios.

If the design might be old you could have it change every year or so. the easiest way is playing with the light because continues makeover of the shape of the building is unfeasable. - you could make mix of lights of in shape of boxes for the first year - next year would be the year of circles in blue color. - and so on... nice and easy... :)

Simplistic might work in the realm of clothing design..................but in the world of Dubai Architecture and Interior Design of today, I give Armani a big YAWN here ............a Decorator of Fashion applying a "True EU Style" to Architecture doesn't make a this attempt anywhere near a "classic, or classy".........maybe in the UK you can fool the "Emperor With No clothes", by this elitist minimalist approach to fashion applied to design, but elsewhere in Dubai??If anyone is asleep at the Design Wheel here, its the decorator, so wake up Armani.

With all do respect to Aramni, I don't see why he is having all this fame and fuss. I have always hated his designer clothes because they lack creativity - everything he designs is old style, traditional, and not new; we've seen it a million times before. Now he wants to touch interior design? Please Aramni get your hands off of this project and give it to Zaha Hadid or Frank Gehry. Deconstructivist architectural design is the latest hit; Minimalism is outdated (more like stone age to us now).
