Glass delivery times double

Soaring demand for glass products in the construction industry has meant delivery lead times have more than doubled over the last year, to 10 weeks.

“There is no way in a million years we can meet demand here. We are struggling to do what we can with what we have,” said Arthur Millwood, technical and training manager, Emirates Glass, one of the big four industrial suppliers of glass in Dubai.

He added: “Typical delivery times now are running to 10 weeks which is much more than normal. A year ago we were talking four weeks.

”According to Millwood, the continued expansion, which he believes is unprecedented on a global scale, is asking too much of local glass manufacturers.
