RE: Palestine

To my brother Nasser,

I'm totally in agreement with you, I do blame my Palestinian leaders for not being united enough to support our rights, I blame them for many wrong decisions affected the progress of our rebellion, but also we need to remember that it’s not only about Palestine, its people about leaders, it’s also about IRAQ, about LEBANON, about SYRIA, SUDAN, SOMAL where we still have occupied lands and we all Arabs need to fight for it till freedom!

We Arabs failed in Iraq, in the recent war in Lebanon while Hizbullah proved to us that it is possible!, we are not able to get our occupied land in Jawlan Heights, Shabaa. I agree we should not point fingers and blame each other, we should unit (regardless to the ruling regimes) and take responsibility toward our common issue.

Moreover, we need to remember that Jerusalem is not about Palestinians only! Responsibility rely on every Muslim brothers to free the Aqsa Mousque and every Christian Brother to free the holy city from the Zionist invasion (not Jewish, because Jews also have right in this holy city), Palestinians should not be left alone to fight in Jerusalem against the Zionists and should be supported by every person who believes in justice!

Sad...but true

I agree that the West does care more about less important things such as dog fights than innocent people being killed in Gaza. But it is one thing for us to all comment on what is happening and actually do something about it. It is simple, militarily Israel is stronger and on top of that it gets backed up by the US. So, if the Arab world becomes militarily stronger, does this end all of this? Truly unite all the Arab states and Muslim countries to end this, and it will, because right now we are not all together.

Palestine

I feel more or less, Palestinians are to blame..looking at the history. (Not supporting Israel at all here). because everytime something bad happened in Palestine, I see my Palestinian friends blaming other arabs for their problem. I don't see a united Palestine stand at all from the Palestinian People. I have even questioned some of them, who said they cannot do anything as they got limitations especially the ones from Jordan.
Honestly speaking I feel Palestinian People have got to raise up all over the world and help their brothers in Palestine instead of blaming the Egyptians, Syrians and other arabs etc.

meaningful actions

It seems to me that despite a lot of anger, the Arab world is doing very little to put pressure on the US, without which Israel cannot act. Cancelling New Year celebrations is about as far as it goes. US ships and military still rely heavily on various gulf states to continue to operate in the region. The US still relies heavily on gulf oil. Unless either of these are under threat, the US will not care at all for the plight of the Palestinians.

The gulf states are some of the US's strongest allies in the region, which seems contradictory considering that the US's relationship with Israel will always trump anything else.

While Arab leaders watch silently...

Time and again, US and its ally, Israel have proven to be more witty and smart than most Arab leaders.

Iran is under economic sanction because of its rejection to stop its 'nuclear ambition;, which America sees as a major threat to Israel. Now that is is just a 'presumed threat', yet America used all its influence and muscle to convince UN Security members that Iran and its people deserves to be punished. US did the same to North Korea.

US, France, UK - major bullies of the world, who, without any real power and strength, capitalise on its 'perceived' leverage against other nations - "BRAINS", and what I mean, is really good, thinking and working brain.

No amount of fundraising for the Palestinians will help them. Only until Israel returns the occupied land, will there be real peace in the Middle East.

Until now, none of the three bullies have blatantly and publicly denounced Israel for its occupation, knowing full well, it is the root of all instability in the Middle East, and the world.

And what do Arab and Islamic leaders do? Gather together in conferences and denounce the violence against the Palestinians - in newspapers.

Do you call that action?

An action is when they use whatever they have, within the limits of their capability, and use it to the greater advantage of their cause.

OIL is POWER!!!!!!!!!! But unless they use that, nothing will happen.

What if oil rich Arab countries say.... "America, we will stop delivering oil to you until you stop delivering guns and bombs etc., to Israel, unless you stop supplying their military with the means to do it locally ....." What if they do that???

What if OPEC members all suspend their diplomatic ties with the US until the US government stops indirectly killing and destroying in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan?

What if their blah blah blah will turn into NON-VIOLENT actions.

American does not have that much oil, neither does France or Britain, yet these countries control and manipulate more 'powerful' nations just by their "working BRAINS".

So far, only Saudi's King Adullah has been actively pushing for a peace initiative between Israel and Palestine. He had gone through great lengths with his proposal.

But the rest of them? I don't know.... maybe just watching news on the CNN and making "strong condemnation" in paper.

"Evil men triumph when good men do nothing", so one quote says.

What is Kanoo talking abt?

Hamas has been aggressive in the past , present and remains to be in the future. If Arabs criticize Israel for throwing Palestinians out what about thousands of Jews thrown out from their communities from Syria, Morocco, Iraq etc and recently Yemen who lived in the community for thousands of years? If you Gulf people really do care about Palestine why don't they give citizenship to Arab Palestinians? It is MUCH better than just giving aid.

A Sad Situation

It is hard to live in the USA and know how heavily our country supports Israel - especially during the last few years, when the Israeli government has reneged on many of its promises during peace agreements. I said Israeli government mainly because I think there are plenty of normal people living in Israel who are disgusted at their governments actions (just as we have been in the US during the last 8 years). In discussions about the recent Israeli attacks, I have been labeled as a terrorist or supporter of terrorists for supporting the Palestinian side. It's sad, and I hope things change for the better - in the end many innocent are dying and that is what needs to stop.

A dog is worth more than a Palestinian child

To Nick Po and others blaming Hamas for the actions of Israel and accusing the writer of not being objective. Looks like you all have a very short memory. Remember, Israel is the occupier of Palestine and Palestinians have the right to defend their country. Remember, for the past decade, Israel (with the biased support of USA) did not negotiate a fair peace agreement to enable the Palestinians to have their freedom in the remaining parts of their country. Remember, Israel continued to build settlements in the occupied territories while negotiating for peace!!!

Deception is not working anymore as we can see from the global reaction of people across the world. You cannot blame the victim anymore.

Sad .. if you even call the Qassam A threat

It is sad for anyone to even consider blaming Hammas or any Palestinian for their reactions .. Everyone who does seams to forget the word OCCUPATION .. their land is OCCUPIED for God sake .. Imagine if Russia "occupied" Alaska .. or if Mexicans "occupied" Texas .. guess what the American reaction would be .. Apply that reaction to Hammas and then decide..

Who is to be blamed?

i really doubt if only Israel is to be blamed. Yes i see Israeli action somewhat more than necessary now. But did not Gaza started firing the rockets?
and you know , everybody knows, all actions and reactions are equal and opposite.
i have read so many suicide bombers taking the toll of innocent jews. Do you think they are valued less than a dog? do not try put all the blame on Israel. No i do not think what the news papers print.

Hammas To Blame?????

Why blame Hammas - they were the elected government by the people of Gaza - the attempts to oust a duly elected government would bring outcry if it was anywhere but Palestine. Since their lands have been forcibly taken from them, the Palestinians have been subject to the breaking of the "signed treaties" worthless pieces of paper, incursion into their lands, blockades affecting their every waking moment and denying them even the most basic of needs.
The world leaders discuss it - words only - please stop but where is the real might of stopping it.? There is none. It is like we are saying that this should be allowed to go until there are no Palestinians left.
I wonder how, if the super powers decided that for example, Florida was to be given to the Palestinians as theirs, the people would feel - leave their homes, their security and become refugees through no decision of their own. They would be outraged and fight for their rights, and rightfully so.
When the Palestinians fight for their rights - they are branded "terrorists". Who is the terrorist here. Who supplies the arms to Israel - who is silent when aparthied walls are built and when the basic necessities of life are denied, when the freedom to move, to be educated, to have medical treatment abroad is denied.
When the targets of the military jhunta of Israel target civilians and children and the world does nothing but lip service to stop the genocide then Mr Kanoo is absolutely right - the life of a dog is more valuable than a palestinian child.

Strong immediate action is needed here - not words and lip service only to what is happening.

Objectivity

Mr. Kanoo conveniently ignores Hamas sending many, many rockets into Israel over a prolonged period. Objective analysis does not shape Mr. Kanoo's thinking, it's shaped by blind hatred. If there had been no rocket attacks and homocide bombings against Israel, there would be no attempt to stop the perpertators.
Hamas, and people like Mr. Kanoo, are the greatest enemies of the Palestinians. They will never change and unfortunately they will continue to imprison the Palestinians.
The world is greatly saddened by the deaths of Palestinians, children and adults. The outrage would crush the aggressor if there were no terrorism. The world is also saddened by the deaths of Americans on 9/11, of Britons in the subways, of Russian school children, of Spanish train riders, of Australian nightclubbers, etc., etc., etc. Terrorism is not a good way to "Win Friends and Influence People".

Life.....

A dog's life is not worth more than the life of a Palestinian child - - all life is precious. While it's heartbreaking to see the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza, it takes concessions on both sides to bring this carnage to an end. On the news the other night there was information that France was trying to broker a deal - - Hamas stops bombing Israel and Israel stops bombing Gaza. Sounds reasonable to me, but according to the same news piece, they said Hamas was not willing to do their part - - so, what's Israel to do? I hope and pray that both sides will come to their senses so that the needless suffering can end.

To Nick Hardy

I would like to reply to Mr Hardy's comment by first bringing his attention to the fact that what he is looking at thinking is the whole picture, is not even half of the picture, and my argument is:

1.Hamas Rockets. where are they fired from? are they fired from a recognized country? the answer ofcourse is no. they are fired from an occupied territory at the occupation, which is understandable in all cultures. what is not understood is how you make them responsible and call the occupation a (self defenc)

2. for 6 months of truce HAMAS did not fire any rockets and the Palestinians in Gaza were still getting killed and driven to death by preventing food, water, medicine...etc. so they were getting killed anyways.

I hope you look at the picture again now, and I advise you this time to look at it from an angle other than CNN's
