"And which of the Prophets did your fathers not persecute..." St Stephan.
This is Prophets... how do you expect these creatures to have mercy on poor Palestinian widows and children in Gaza?

Dear Walid: You are making a lot of judgments about me without knowing me or what I feel in my heart. Yes, I do care that innocent Palestinians are suffering and dying. I am also a father and know what it means to love children and want to protect them, and I cannot imagine how frightening and infuriating it must be for parents in Gaza. I am not claiming that the situation is symmetrical, but can you also try to imagine how frightening it is for parents in southern Israel now, or in any of Israel's cities when buses were exploding regularly?

It is appalling, but not surprising, that in neither of your comments you have shown the littlest of sympathy for the innocent lives that is being lost as we have this discussion. If you truly want peace, you would feel with the sufferings of the Palestinians which will eventually blow up in the face of Israel! I think what you want is peace with NO Palestinians around!
Yes, Palestinians want peace. They want to have the basic living standards. They want to go about their lives. Palestinian kids want to have the basic necessity of lives: have (living) parents and be able to go to school peacefully.
Palestinians will never accept to live under siege and be expected to accept the situation! They will never accept (internationally illegal) occupation and be expected to accept it! Israel has taken land by force, and should leave it and end occupation immediately. They should give Palestinians their rights- their very basic rights.

Thank you for responding. I am sure if we sat together and talked we would find a lot of common ground - and respectfully agree to disagree on some things. Let me just say now that most Israelis would like nothing more than to live in peace and quiet, and have no interest in bombing schools or hospitals, or seeing pictures of children killed, injured or traumatized. (And I also believe that most Palestinians would also like nothing more than to live in peace and quiet, provide a better life for their children, etc.)
Most Israelis responded very warmly to Sadat's initiative in 1977 and would do so today too I think if Assad were to make a similar gesture to reassure their fears. If Hamas were to declare a hudna of 10 years, I think it could also lead to calm and progress. But as long as there are rockets and suicide attacks, it will be hard to build the trust necessary for compromise.

I couldn't help but think that I was impressed by your first 2 questions and answers; only to be disappointed on your elaboration. You claimed that this is a reaction to Hamas which contradicts to your reply to your first question. How can it be disproportionate and in response to Hamas at the same time? It is disproportionate because it is not in response to Hamas. Keep in mind that:
1. If it is in response to Hamas, why would they bombard hospitals & schools?
2. How many Hamas members did Israeli officials announce that were eliminated?
3. The embargo on Ghaza has been going on for more than 2 years. Is this also in response to Hamas? How many children, women or non-Hamas civilians died because of this?
4. Did this war stop (or at least be reduced) the rockets that Hamas fires?
I think if you answer the above questions objectively, you will be able to deduce whether it’s a war against the Palestinian people or a self-defense and you will also be able to grasp what Walid is trying to say.

I expect nothing less from an Israeli citizen to continue the chain of lies. You mentioned that hundreds of rockets were launched into Israel during the days before this war! Even by the count of Israel MOD the number is tenth of that. Moreover, do you know that Gaza was under siege during the so-called "tahdiyah"! Do you know that Israel killed over 20 Palestinians in Gaza BEFORE the truce was over? Do you know that Gazans were in a large prison for over a year with the Israeli siege? Maybe you don't know, or don't want to know, all these facts, but they are FACTS!
This is not a war against Hamas, and you need to simply look at who has been targeted to know. What about the targeting of the UN school and killing 50 people in one go? Israel said it is a "mistake"! But I thought "smart" bombs do not make mistakes!
I consider myself a moderate in the Arab World but I do not tolerate the fact-twisting that people like you engage in. About 900 people died to date- one third children. What would happen if these victims were Israeli's?
Israeli attacks on Gaza kill Arabs in the immediate term, but long term, the bigger loser is Israel. You are creating more and more extremists that would eventually find a way to get their revenge out, and we would never see an end!
Your leaders need to know that the world is now a different place. The existence of the internet and satellites allows people from all over the world to watch what is happening to innocent Gaza children.
When Hezbollah in 2006 attacked one of Israel's basis on the border with a rocket and killed few soldiers, a camera caught tens of your brave soldiers crying like little kids! Can you imagine what would real children feel when they are bombarded day-in day-out. When they loose their parents or siblings?
Enough is enough!

Are Israel's attacks disproportionate? Yes. Has it missed many chances over the years for a peaceful solution? Yes. But you are wrong to say that the current violence has nothing to do with Hamas. If Hamas had not announced it was ending the tahadiyeh and fired hundreds of rockets into Israel during the days preceding the current war, we would not be in this situation now.
