More mosques / hospitals needed in New Dubai
Posted by Skeptic at 08:50 UAE time
There is a need to have more mosques in New Dubai areas outside malls. There is one mall in The Greens which serves Greens / Views, Tecom and adjoining areas. On Friday the worshippers spill over to the road and walkways and in this heat it is impossible to stand outside. New mosques outside malls should be built all over New Dubai as soon as possible. Also, there is a need to have good large hospitals in New Dubai which are non-existent at the moment.

Thanks Sheikh Makhtum

I agree Mr Salafi. People should study Islam before they comment on it. UAE government or Dubai for that matter should build mosques. I know they did. This is a private property and fund that the ruler is forcing to build a mosque. I think we should thank God that we have a leader like him. I'm sick and tired of these negativities about him and Dubai. I can’t wait to visit Dubai one day.

Mosques
Posted by Nacheez at 10:57 UAE time
This is a positive direction and is highly commendable. Most large malls in Dubai have a prayer place already but there are other developments where mosques are badly needed. DIFC is a case in point. Also the Marina and JLT developments are seriously lacking in this facility.

The sad part is in a Muslim country you actually have to instruct people to open a mosque, shouldnt this be part of the design, by default

Rather sad...

While I welcome His Highness' decree and agree with it in principle, does anyone else feel that we have reached a sad state of affairs that mosques are now considered to be something 'tacked on' to a temple of consumerism, instead of a magnificent place of worship to stand alone above all else?

Mall Masjids
Posted by Salafi at 20:46 UAE time
I think this "Ford" is enlightened enough to critisize a good deed. Mosque is a sign of Islam. I dont know the above mentioned is a muslim or a non believer, If a muslim than I feel sad reading his/her comments and if a non believer then no problem. May The All Mighty reward Shaikh Mohammad.

Mall Masjids
Posted by Ford at 19:09 UAE time
Could someone elighten me - what is needed to fulfil this requirement in addition to prayer rooms facilities, which (rightly) already exisit in the main malls? Is it nthe case that this mall visited by the Ruler did not even have a prayer room?

Mosques in media freezones please.
Posted by IncidentFlux at 16:42 UAE time
Excellent! Thank you! This will be his everlasting legacy not all those look-a-like towers.
How about some iconic mosques in free zones i.e.: Dubai Media City, Studio City and dozens others. Instead of those small prayer rooms.

It should have been implemented a lot earlier
Posted by Rent Surveyor at 16:30 UAE time
This is fantastic news for muslims. This should have been implemented much earlier. As opposed to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, for a shopper to go and pray was much more difficult in Dubai.
This should also be the case on all Major highways of Dubai. You dont find a masjid on emirates road or dubai by pass road or any other highways except the Dubai Abu Dhabi highway and that too masjid's start to appear only after the Abu Dhabi limit starts. As lots of people use private transport and have to travel at times when they need to pray this would come in handy. If they can build good solid masjids, why put the shabby, temporary portable container?

responce re critisisim
Posted by Thomas J at 16:04 UAE time
too add I do agree with posters about the mosques and medical Centres,
my point re 22 new malls I still stand by Dubai has too much retail space, it is a shame to go through places like international city and many other similar locations, and what do we see, just endless empty retail units, built to maximise profits when retail space was scarce, however in the same locations the prayer facilities are cheap, small prefabricated huts.
these are developments designed and built by government companies. the government needs to take responsibility.

This is very nice to know that we can shop, eat, and still pray at the malls.

Auspicious idea and not a moment too soon
Posted by Geriant at 15:54 UAE time
It is extremely important, whatever religion you follow, to be able to seek absolution while shopping, particularly when you are buying garments that are inappropriate and normally cannot be worn in public. The clinic in each mall is also a stroke of pure genius, because these can provide salvation for those who have had coronary problems resulting from having their Amex cards rejected or being told Armani doesn't do a thong in black.
