Omar is at it again

"We MUST all respect the rules and regulations of this country as they wish! It's not our country. It's not home"

Sure, but surely we're allowed to have opinions? Or are those illegal?

"The only thing that you can do as you wih is to resign and leave to the airport when you wish! One way ticket!"

Its appears that tens of thousands of people are taking your excellent advice!

Back home in the free world we're entitled to have opinions about things. Its called "freedom". We can even criticise things our governments do. Do you understand, or would you like that translated?

What is the point of Arabian Business having a comments section if all anyone is allowed to do is say what a quite wonderful job the UAE government is doing?

We are losing the point here.....

Aren't we all deviating from the subject of the news report here???
I wonder why anyone would think of practicing their dancing moves on the balcony?? and that too in this heat!!! Crazy I say!!

Human rights

As long as they do not clash with human rights and their own laws which prohibit some of the things mentioned by "Omar". There is definitely an air of hypocrisy here. But let's be frank, if the region ever wants to reach any REAL economic heights, it will have to implement proper laws which conform to the standards set out by major economic powers. If they do not, then they will always be behind no matter what they do.

We are just guests (hard to understand)

We are ALL guests in this country. We should simply respect the laws and regulations of this country no matter what they are!!!!
It's not us who make this country. UAE existed long before our existence! It's the leadership and people of this country who make it as they wish!Rule as they wish, do whatever they wish!
They do not need our preaching or judgement. They can make it as they wish!
We are just foreigners who came to work as employees (to a boss) through a limited work contract (3 years) and we signed a document for that (we FULLY accepted that). 3 years, Maybe renewable maybe not, as the people of this country wish!
They can terminate us as and cancel our visas when they wish!
You can only work and get your salary as they wish!
The only thing that you can do as you wih is to resign and leave to the airport when you wish! One way ticket!
Take it as they wish or leave it alone as you wish!!
We MUST all respect the rules and regulations of this country as they wish! It's not our country. It's not home. We are just foreigners - temporary guests - aliens - employees - tourists, etc.. call us as you wish!!! Has anyone promised you the citizenship?? NOOOOOOOO
Easy English!! Is not it?!or you want me to translate it in another language?!

there you go..

DA, can you please define "international standards"!! and remember just because locals or whoever does not respect or follow the customs, the law does not change, neither do the values.

Still in denial...

What values are you referring to? We see many locals doing exactly the things Expats are critized for doing... are you then suggesting that many locals do not respect their own values, customs, religion??
The fact is you cannot be half pregnant... if you want to become an international city to attract foreign expertise then you need to embrace the international standard. And don't get me started on why we "want" to be here!

values & culture & religion

we have values and culture that you may never understand, but if you want to live in our part of the world, you will have to at least respect those values even if you do not mean anything to you..
Stop criticizing us

what are backward ideals

Jim you cant look at things from your cultural ponit of view. you said "A metropolitan global city does not simply walk hand in hand with backward ideals". What or who defined ideals and what makes them backward or forward. No thanks we dont want you to tell us about ideals!! If someone commits a crime and is caught, shouldnt' he be punished for it!! Dont forget, you are not in your home country, whatever that is!

Amazing!

Just imagine the contrasting news story we would have had this incident occured in another location. We would be living the pain and agony of the distressed boyfriend, and expressing support for his grief; on the contrary, here he is being booked and charged. A metropolitan global city does not simply walk hand in hand with backward ideals. You simply can't have the cake and eat it this way!! This is bound to seriously backfire at some point in time.

Priorities

Typical - a woman dies from an unknown cause and all the police really care about is whether she was having sex.
