FedEx carries the kit for Dubai Film Festival

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Monday, 01 January 2007
FedEx Express helped keep the festival running.

FedEx Express recently went ‘behind-the-scenes' to provide logistics support to the 2007 Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). DIFF used FedEx to ship more than six tonnes of equipment from the US to Dubai to support activities taking place during the event, which ran in December.

These imports included film reels, production and lighting equipment, cameras, speakers, big screens, and stands, which were delivered to DIFF using FedEx's door to door, customs-cleared International Priority service.

"FedEx has an unrivalled reputation in the industry for handling time-sensitive, high-value shipments." said Hamdi Osman, FedEx vice president for the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa. "Most of this equipment is sensitive and highly technical in nature, and is critically important to the running of the films during the festival."

This is the third year that FedEx has supported the festival. In addition to transporting the equipment, the company also managed the global deliveries of over 3000 invitations and theatre tickets to select invitees and DIFF sponsors. "We are very proud to be able to use our global transportation network to support Dubai's vibrant culture and events such as the Dubai International Film Festival," said Osman.
