Indian prime minister to visit UAE in March - reports

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit the United Arab Emirates in March, according to Indian media.

It will be the first visit by an Indian PM to the UAE since Indira Gandhi, the country’s third and only female PM, visited in 1981.

Singh is expected to stop in Abu Dhabi en route to Durban, where is scheduled to attend the BRICS summit with leaders of Brazil, Russia and China, in the last week of March.

There are as many as 1.3m Indians working in the UAE, according to the Ministry for Overseas Indians, making them the largest expat group in the Gulf nation.
