Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al-Sabah hospital will be the sixth largest hospital in the world

The Middle East’s biggest hospital is on track to open in Kuwait by the end of 2016, according to a report.

The $1bn Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah hospital will also be the sixth largest hospital in the world, reported Amwal Alghad.

Covering a surface of 270,000 square feet, the hospital will be wholly managed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health.

It will offer over 1,100 hospital beds and a range of medical services such as diagnostic and treatment services, a trauma centre, a dental facility and in- and out-patient care services.

It will also house VIP suites for visiting heads of state, according to the hospital’s chairman Mohsen Salah.

The mega-project is being carried out in three phases by Egyptian construction group Arab Contractors, Salah added.
