Khalid Bin Kalban takes top honours at CEO Middle East Awards

Dubai Investments boss joins star business names at exclusive event held in Dubai

The managing director and chief executive of Dubai Investments, Khalid Bin Kalban, walked away with the top prize at the annual CEO Middle East Awards, which were held last night at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach Hotel last night in Dubai.

Kalban won the Visionary of the Year award in recognition of Dubai Investments’ record of innovation in several areas, including manufacturing and property.

An audience of 200 guests watched as 16 awards – recognising success in a variety of different sectors – were handed out.

HE Hamad Buamim, the president and CEO of Dubai Chamber, won the International Achievement Award for his work in bolstering trade between Dubai and key emerging markets, such as Africa, Asia and the CIS.

The Outstanding Contribution to Business award was collected by HE Saif Said Al Qubaisi, the director general of Abu Dhabi’s Regulation and Supervisory Bureau, for his role in helping to deliver sustainability to the utilities sector.

Another top award, Developer CEO of the Year, was won by HE Hesham Al Qassim, the CEO of wasl Asset Management Group, for his work in developing Dubai’s property sector.

The Female CEO of the Year award went to Pyramedia’s Nashwa Al Ruwaini, while Ooredoo Qatar’s Waleed Al Sayed won Telecoms CEO of the Year.

Siemens Middle East’s Dietmar Siersdorfer picked up the Energy CEO of the Year, while Marriott International president of Middle East and Africa Alex Kyriakidis won the Hospitality CEO of the Year.

Dr Ahmed Samerai, the founder of Sahara Group, picked up a Special Recognition Award for his long contribution towards philanthropy.

Another strong year from Air Arabia saw its group CEO, Adel Ali, collect the Airline CEO award, with Colm McLoughlin taking the Retail CEO gong for his work with Dubai Duty Free.

Saudi German Hospitals president Sobhi Batterjee won the Healthcare CEO prize, and StartUp CEO went to Michael Lahyani, from Propertyfinder.ae.

Last, but by no means lest, Michel Accad from Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait won the Bank CEO award, while Tarek Sultan of Agility took home the Industry CEO award.
