Uber will become Dubai Taxi Corporation's exclusive ride-hailing operator of its initial fleet of 50 Tesla electric vehicles, it was announced today.

Dubai Taxi Corporation took delivery of the Tesla X models last month, part of a 200-car deal signed with Elon Musk's electric car company in February

The Uber partnership will see the launch of UberOne, a new service dedicated to Tesla cars in the emirate.

The new service will be avaialable to Uber customers via its app from Tuesday October 10.

"We are tremendously excited to be the exclusive ride-hailing partner for this fleet of premium electric vehicles in Dubai, in partnership with Dubai Taxi Corporation, and for the clean vehicle technology to deliver our driver-partners and riders with more efficient, less-polluting mobility," said Chris Free, general manager for Uber UAE.

"We will continue to work hand in hand with Dubai Taxi Corporation to bring innovative infrastructural solutions to Dubai and grow the city’s smart mobility ecosystem.”

As far as pricing goes, UberOne will be more expensive - expected to be similar mark-up to its Uber Black / Black XL services.

Currently, a journey from Dubai's Burj Al Arab to the Burj Khalifa costs AED60-70 using Uber Black and AED70-90 using Uber XL.
