Sharjah-based Basma Group and ARADA have signed a management agreement with Minor Hotels hospitality group to launch a new 233-key Anantara Sharjah Resort.
The resort – which is scheduled to open in mid-2020 – will be located on Sharjah’s beachfront about 15 minutes from Sharjah International Airport.
According to ARADA, the resort will offer deluxe rooms and luxury suites, as well as a number of dining options, a male and female spa and wellness centre, a kids’ club, a pool and ballroom capable of hosting up to 540 guests at a time.
“Anantara is one of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotel brands, and this new property marks yet another hospitality milestone for Sharjah,” said Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, chairman of Basma Group and chairman of ARADA.
“We’re looking forward to launching the Anantara Sharjah Resort in 2020, and delivering on our commitment to providing exceptional new destinations to the residents of Sharjah, as well as tourists to our fast-growing Emirate.”
The announcement comes at a time in which tourism to Sharjah is increasing, following a 17 percent rise in tourist numbers between 2015 and 2016.
“There is a huge opportunity within the luxury segment in this fast-growing destination and we are confident that Anantara will be well received within the market,” said William E. Heinecke, founder, chairman and CEO of Minor International PCL.
Minor Hotels operates 13 properties in the Middle East across its four brands – Anantara, AVANI, Tivoli and Oaks – with several in the pipeline. In total, the company operates 39 properties in 12 countries.
