Help, I forgot my username and/or password
For fashionistas everywhere this has got to be a dream come true - the world's first island devoted entirely to fashion, and it's right here in the UAE.
What is it?
The multi-million dollar Isla Moda, otherwise known as Fashion Island is the latest wacky idea to come from the creative drawing board of an aspirational Dubai developer. To be built as part of The World development, this is Dubai's debut into haute couture construction, and will feature a resort dedicated to all things sartorial - with fashion themed villas, top of the range boutiques, and luxury hospitality facilities.
High profile, (as yet to be revealed) fashion designers from each continent will be involved in designing the various parts of the island, and the developers of the project Dubai Infinity Holdings (DIH) are convinced that the resort will cement Dubai's position as one of the top fashion and lifestyle destinations in the world. "We are working with time-honoured fashion houses as well as non-traditional designers to create a cohesive, dynamic island neighbourhood that will start with great design and evolve with the tastes of our residents and guests," said Samira Abdulrazzak, CEO of DIH.
The luxury Hotel Moda will have approximately 250 rooms and serviced apartments, along with boutiques representing the world's most prominent designers, many of them exclusively. There will also be design studios and dedicated areas for functions and banquets. Each area will be designed with the needs of the fashion industry and fashion connoisseurs in mind.
DIH intends Isla Moda to host exclusive international events, all of which will feature high profile-designers, in the presence of the fashion world's top players. Fashion shows and limited edition product launches will also be hosted on the island.
"Isla Moda will be acknowledged as the central fashion district of the entire Middle East and a natural home for all the world's top fashion luminaries," said Abdulrazzak. No doubt we can expect to see Kate Moss and the whole Sex and the City gang picking up their keys soon then...
Should I buy here?
Investors on Fashion Island will have a choice of themed properties, ranging from Beach, Royal and Water villas, but there will also be some ‘limited edition' villas available offering ‘one of a kind' views, private beaches and pools.
Residents on the island have been promised a first class service. A style concierge will be on hand to ensure that your home is the epitome of good taste, creating a one of a kind living environment with bespoke furnishings, art and technology. Fashion conscious residents will also be able to select from some of the world's most recognised designers to create their own couture homes.
And if you're ever having a wardrobe crisis, never fear. Your own personal concierge will be there to cater for your every fashion need, sorting you out with clothing, perfumery and personal style makeovers - you'll never go out wearing those old trackie bums again.
Construction begins later this year, and when it's finished the island will undoubtedly be one of the world's most stylish places to live. But don't forget that as it's out on The World you'll probably need your own private yacht, unless you intend to swim there. And with so many of the world's fashion elite swanning around could you cope the pressure never to have a bad hair day? Contact Dubai Infinity Holdings: 971 4 480 7888
