Our client, a large wildlife park and resort based in the UAE, is seeking to recruit an Veterinary Operations Manager
Your duties will include
- Directingday to day operations of the Veterinary Services team and facilities including oversight of all facilities, projects, external relations, finance and staff
- Refining the scope and direction of the organization's veterinary services establish professional animal care goals and articulate objectives for the development of the program
- DevelopingKPIs for veterinary services activities
- Managingassigned staff in providing medical and surgical care
- Participating in medical facilities, enclosures, and exhibit development and modification provides routine, urgent medical and surgical care
- Developingpreventive medicine and husbandry programs
- Assuringanimals are shipped safely
- Ensuringveterinary services accountability for conservation programs
- Assistingin establishing and updating related policies, procedures, and standards
- Develops, administers, and monitors assigned budgets
- Oversees restraining or immobilization procedures to bring animals under control for examination
- Conducting physical examinations
- Collectingblood, tissue, and secretion samples for analysis and testing
- Forms diagnoses and develops treatment programs
- Performs emergency and scheduled surgical procedures
- Reviews and analyzes pathology records
- Developingand administeringpreventive medicine and husbandry programs such as vaccinations, worming, nutrition, foot care, dental care, and quarantine examinations
- Coordinates off-site veterinary services and support for conservation programs
- Develops instructional programs and train animal care staff, visiting veterinarians, and students
- Serves as a resourcementor to Associate Veterinarians
- Preparing and maintainingmedical records
- Conductingand participatingin animal inspection rounds with staff and other departments to discuss and plan treatment programs
- Coordinatesconsults with other zoological veterinarians
- Examines neonates and prescribes care procedures
- Immobilizes and prepares animals for shipment, pre-shipment examinations and documentation
- Keeps abreast of research findings which relate to clinical veterinary practice
- Conducts clinical research, documents findings, and publishes in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other publications
- Attends professional meetings and present research findings
- Prepare reports maintains a variety of contacts in order to respond to inquiries and requests and effectively coordinate activities
- Oversees special disease projects serves on committees for animal healthwelfare and human bio-safety concerns
- Functions as veterinary services representative for automated systems upgrades and performs related duties and responsibilities as required
To qualify for this role, you must have a DVM and Diplomat designation by the American College of Zoological Medicine or eligibility to sit for the examination within one year of employment, Certification in tuberculin testing with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a world class zoological collection, fluency in English in English is a must andability to work in a multicultural institution is an advantage.
