LEED Specialist

Our client's transportation department is fully committed to fulfilling the statutes and ethos laid out by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) charter, where it is applicable and possible. They fully understand the responsibility that transportation holds in achieving sustainability, and aim to take this into consideration in the design and planning and implementation of transport projects.

They are currently recruiting for a LEED Specialist to add value to their current transport portfolio of work around the world and build on the continuing success and growth of their international business. The candidate must have several years` experience in different aspects of sustainability in the transport field.

As a key member of the Transportation team, the responsibilities cover a wide range of activities, so flexibility and the ability to think through problems are essential.

Responsibilities of the role will include the following:

•Initially pursuing an active line of research into LEED and other sustainability aspects

•Undertaking project management

•Incorporating the sustainability agenda in the design, planning and implementation of transport infrastructure and services, especially for developing countries

•Solving a wide range of transport problems in the sustainability field

•Preparing proposals and Business Cases (both for the private and public sectors)

Requirements

Candidates must have a proven record of sustainable transport solutions, including new technologies, particularly in developing countries. He/she must be committed to providing high quality solutions and advice to clients, and have first class report writing, project management, supervisory, communication and technical ability.

Characteristics that we would expect in successful applicants:

•A degree in a numerate discipline, preferably related to transport and/or sustainability

•Good understanding of environmental and sustainability planning, the industry, and innovative solutions implemented elsewhere or under design/experimentation

•Experience in sustainability aspects within a consultancy environment, ideally in developing countries

•Practical and/or theoretical experience in new technologies related to transport (e.g. ITS - intelligent transport systems, alternative fuels, new propulsion systems, etc.)

•Knowledge of sustainability-related legislation, regulation, practices and policies in different environments

•Good communication and analytical skills plus proven project management experience

•A positive `can-do` attitude and a flexible
and responsive approach to problem solving

•Enjoy working and flexible to work overseas frequently for relative short periods of time (i.e. up to about two weeks).
