Our client a global technology leader for diverse markets is seeking a Contract Manager to be based in Qatar.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Contract Manager will be responsible for all contractual and legal aspects of the Projects including risk management. The CM shall liaise as necessary with lawyers to seek appropriate legal guidance.
The Contract Manager shall review scope of works and keep updated the scope baseline in conjunction with CTO/Operations Manager, conduct and review risk assessment for the project, in conjunction with the planning and project Controls Manager, analyse the critical path and consequent impact on the general time schedule and budget, assist the Project Director in the negotiation of change orders and the identification of potential changes (variations), responsible for the claims file and monitoring all potential claim issues, establish relevant claim argumentation based on the main contract as well as all subcontracts on a regular basis, coordinate the collection of all relevant data and information to support the claimed issues, preparation of complete and comprehensive files to forward the issue to the client or subcontractor, follow up of all claim related actions of the various departments within the project, ensure that the project team interprets and executes correctly the terms and conditions of the prime contract, create and update in co-operation and co-ordination with all the project team the Live Risk register, responsible for the documentation management and the preparation of documentation submittal to customer, together with monitoring of timing of responses and commercial and contractual management of sub-contractors including review of contact notices, preparation of correspondence (default) review of applications for payment, progress, variations, claims etc.
To qualify, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Administration or a similar discipline. A professional designation in contract management is highly recommended. Successful track record of consistent achievement in previous contract management roles within a large and complex multinational organisation. A demonstrable track record of effective decision making, policy formulation, execution and project delivery. Demonstrable knowledge of international contract law, procurement legislation (regionally or globally) and practices. Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with partners (business units) and customers. Excellent negotiating and facilitation skills with ability to positively affect outcome without compromising the business’s position and requirements. Previous airport experience will be an advantage.
