Dubai’s Scoopi Café launches $816 scoop of ice cream

Contains the world’s most expensive Iranian saffron, black Italian truffle and 23-carat edible gold, all served in a Versace bowl

In a city that is already home to the world’s biggest skyscraper, the world’s biggest mall and even the world’s most expensive cupcake, it comes as no surprise that Dubai’s Scoopi Café has now served up its latest promotion: A scoop of ice cream priced at AED2,999 ($816).

The newly launched chocolatier and ice cream café on Al Wasl Road is selling a scoop of their signature ice cream, the “Black Diamond,” which is made with exotic Madagascar vanilla ice cream, the world’s most expensive Iranian saffron and slices of black Italian truffle.

But perhaps the most pricey ingredient is the 23-carat edible gold, which is sprinkled on top of the scoop.

The ice cream comes in a Versace bowl and spoon, which the customer gets to keep.

“Popular ice-cream products in the city are priced lower, but we expect Dubai’s increasingly aspirational consumers to readily pay a premium for a superior product,” Scoopi café’s owner Zubin Doshi said.
