Regional watch retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons has collaborated with auction house Christie’s to bring biennial charity auction Only Watch 2017 to the UAE for the first time on October 9 to 11.

The initiative will see over 50 brands such as Patek Phillippe, Hublot and Audemars Piguet create one-off timepieces in support of research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that results in muscle weakness.

It will showcase the pieces in Dubai as part of a global roadshow before they are auctioned in Geneva on November 11. The collection will be on public display at Le Cirque restaurant in The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in DIFC between 10am and 6pm on October 10 to 11.

The 7th edition of the charity event, which is supported by Prince Albert II of Monaco, was launched at the Monaco Yacht Show on September 27 and will visit Bangkok, Dubai, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Taipei, New York, Los Angeles and Geneva.

All proceeds will be donated to L’Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM) in support of research to help develop a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Since the auction’s first edition in 2005, Only Watch has raised over 25 million euros and has financed numerous scientific and medical research programmes.

Founder of Only Watch, Luc Pettavino commented, “I am really happy about the first Only Watch stop in Dubai. It is an extraordinary opportunity to present the 52 unique pieces of the 2017 collection offered in brand new condition, to meet passionate collectors and generous donators.”
