Work on infrastructure in Zone 1 of the Downtown Jebel Ali development is now 80 percent complete, a senior executive from master developer Limitless has revealed.
“A month ago we started laying the roads, and we have other sub-developers on the zone who have started work on their individual projects as well,” Limitless regional executive director Salah Ameen told Arabian Business.
“We already have three towers under construction, and enabling work on two other towers started last month.”
Ameen said that he expected groundbreaking to occur on “another three or four” towers before the end of this year, but admitted that the downturn had affected the timeline for delivery of some projects
“Limitless as a master developer at the end of the day is a part of what is going on not just in Dubai but worldwide,” he commented.
“We have gone and revised our plans and we reauthorized our projects and our pace of deliveries. Based on those elements, we’ve put a revised plan of projects to be tackled and that’s part of the plan.”
In terms of a timeline for completion of the full project, Ameen said that much of the Downtown Jebel Ali development was in the hands of third-party developers, who were now in charge of their various projects.
“At the end of the day, those are their plots and they have their own plans,” he added.
“But Limitless has stuck to its commitments, and we are proud that we have delivered on this project; I’m hoping that this will continue to bring back confidence to the people of Dubai.”
The executive was speaking prior to the launch of The Plaza – an area of around 20,000 square metres of landscaped grounds – which takes up around a third of The Galleries’ total land area.
The Galleries, part of the Downtown Jebel Ali development, is an eight-building mix of A-grade offices, apartments, retail and leisure facilities.
Later this year, the project will be more easily accessible via the opening of an adjacent Metro station, as well as the completion of Interchange 8 on Sheikh Zayed Road, the RTA has confirmed.
