Gliss-Speed, described as a ‘water kart’, is powered by electric batteries and does not require a licence to operate.

A French company manufacturing environmental friendly, electric-powered pleasure crafts has seen increased interest from Arab clients since it set up its first international office in Dubai, and could be close to signing its first deal when it exhibits at the Dubai International Boat Show next week.

Gliss-Speed, described as a ‘water kart’, is powered by electric batteries and does not require a licence to operate. The manufacturer has launched its first venture outside France in Dubai and is planning to exhibit at the Dubai International Boat Show next week.

“We are working with hotels and water sport companies, some of them are very interested by our product,” Hugo Plancq, Gliss-Speed’s Dubai-based spokesperson, told Arabian Business. “This is a new product and we just started working here few months ago. We are confident to close our first deal for five boats before the beginning of the Boat Show but I cannot give more details at the moment."

“The Gulf countries are well adapted for our product, they are sunny, the water is calm and the tourism activities are developing. Not forgetting the fact that this region is famous in the world for always being at the leading edge of technology,” Plancq said.
