Soccer legend Michael Owen led the tributes to the UAE’s most inspiring British expats, at a special gala dinner held in Dubai on Tuesday night.

The event saw five individuals from last week’s Arabian Business Brits Power List recognised for their work – Sam Barnett, CEO of MBC (Media), Margaret Attack, director of education at GEMS (Education), Lucy Bruce (Philanthropy), Isobel  Abulhoul (Women’s Award) and Michael Tomalin, CEO of National Bank of Abu Dhabi (Lifetime Achievement).

Former England star Owen gave a keynote speech at the gala dinner, also attended by the British Ambassador to the UAE, Dominic Jermey.

Later, Owen participated in a specially arranged penalty shoot out on stage, to raise money for the ITP Trust – will all proceeds going to towards a UNICEF project in Malawi.
